This was taken on the east side of the Mississippi River near the Mendota Bridge, looking southwest toward MSP airport.

I had my first storm chase experience on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. I left work around 6 p.m. thinking nothing of the weather. After a 15-minute drive home, I popped inside, started to make some food and turned on the TV. Immediately I saw the radar and the storms that were building around the Twin Cities area.

I’m getting ready for my first season of storm chasing and wanted to document what materials I’ve read or what events I’ve attended.

I’m not after a tornado. Don’t get me wrong, it’d be pretty exciting. But, I’m more interested in the general beauty and sometimes staggering power of the skies.
